- Can you tell us a bit about your background and what led you to become a sommelier? Could you introduce Mon Repos?
- I started as a waiter at the restaurant Gloria, and that’s where my interest in wines began. I received my first wine training through Sopexa courses.
Mon Repos was opened 7 years ago next to Tallinn’s most beautiful park and the presidential palace. The restaurant offers European and French cuisine. The head chef, Vladislav Djatšuk, is one of Estonia’s most renowned chefs and has also participated in the Bocuse d'Or. Mon Repos has been recognized multiple times by the Michelin Guide.
- What convinced you to add this wine to your wine list? How does Séries Limitées Gigondas stand out from the other wines on your list?
- I was looking for a good Rhône wine, and Series Limitées Côte Rôtie fit the menu well.
- What types of dishes on your menu would you recommend pairing with this wine? Is there a signature dish that you would particularly recommend with this wine and why?
- Our current menu's signature dish is Venison Wellington, which pairs wonderfully with Côte Rôtie.
- What have been the most interesting or surprising reactions to this wine?
- Some clients find the wine a bit soft and round for a Côte Rôtie and expect more power and intensity. Others appreciate its softer, elegant, and fruity style.
